The purpose of this Pastoral Care Visitation Program is to support frail and lonely parishioners who are in their home or in a residential care facility, isolated and disconnected from the parish community.
This program provides parishioner volunteer visitor teams, who embody the Gospel values of empathy, understanding, forgiveness, mercy, dignity, compassion, humility, gentleness, service and sacrifice, the necessary skills and pastoral presence to help them in this ministry. These visitor teams of two offer emotional and spiritual support to fellow parishioners who are home-bound, working to strengthen their connection with the parish community and encouraging the believers in their walk with Jesus.
These volunteer visitors receive training in the Catholic Health Association of BC's Pastoral Care Outreach Program. This 4-session training program educates parishioners and pastoral care teams to ensure a unified and focused response that is available, accessible and relational.
