Ushers welcome parishioners to Mass and assist with seating at the weekend Masses, take up the collection and hand out the weekend bulletin after Mass. They assist with the smooth flow of Holy Communion distribution during Mass and they assist the Extraordinary Ministers by pointing out those who cannot proceed through the communion line and therefore need Communion brought to them. They are also available to answer visitors’ questions and extend extra help in seating those who need the assistance.
Ushers stand ready to assist anyone in the congregation who might need help and to aid latecomers in finding a seat. During crowded services, assisting with seating is especially important. In case of an emergency, the ushers will take the lead in getting people to safety in an orderly manner. Ushers have a true love for the people of the church and a desire to promote an atmosphere of reverence and worship in the house of God.
