Catholic Schools develop Christian leaders, responsible citizens and life-long learners.
The formation of our children is first and foremost the responsibility of the parents, and is something that needs to be modeled in our homes. Thankfully, however, the Church has made it possible for parents to work alongside the greater Catholic community in helping shape the Church’s youngest members.
Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, as a faith community, are committed to excellence in Catholicity and in all areas that promote the development of the whole child to his or her full potential.
Note: Religious education for children (grades 1-7) attending public schools is via the parish-based PREP (Parish Religious Education Program).
Star of the Sea School provides an excellent academic program in a Christ centered environment.
Parents, educators and the entire community collaboratively work together to foster spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth in each student.
Star of the Sea School serves to promote the growth and development of the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social attributes of each individual. The growth and development is in turn closely linked with the thought that all pupils will eventually become responsible members of the Christian community, sharing the knowledge and the love of God.
As outlined in the Policy and Reference Manual of the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese the formal task of a school as one being not only an institution for education, but as well a place to outline the ethical dimensions for the precise purpose of arousing the individual’s inner spiritual dynamism, and aiding in the achievement of moral freedom which alone can give meaning to the value of human life.
It is our task to provide a synthesis of culture and faith, and a synthesis of faith and life. We recognize this integration as a life long process of conversion, and Star of the Sea School must remain an active force during the systematic formation of our student’s developmental stages.
